easist pick in sports is "the field" in a golf tourney, especially if you are getting the right odds...

If JJ Henry was playing (see my response to Shades under his post), I would definitely take the field.

Also interesting is how some of you folks from the other state university selected Clemson notables such as Trashcan and Tour Star but avoided the best of them all - The Byrdman, who will fly high again for the remainder of this year.

Only Stevie V. and I have him on our squads. Must be the powerful Slavic mind.

I feel good that I did not post my thought that Byrdman's long absence from the tour cuz of bruised ribs resembled a page from an ACC football player's book after seeing that the next game or two was against an SEC team. The man has a plan to make this a breakthrough year!

OK, which of you ass kissers picked JG?

bocabandit said...

Not I. As a new fan of JG, I think he's rushing it. My stance is that I'd like to see him take the rest of the year off to heal, get healthy and put 2006's bad start behind him, spend quality time with MG, and come out roaring in 2007 when I select him. Of course, it's now quite likely that everyone may pick him and he'll have to be taken off the board.

Yeah, I mentioned that to Jeff... if he doesn't right the ship, he's going to be a pretty decent bargain in a "contract year."

Of course, the collective wisdom in this group of picking Ernie Els this year was also way off. My guess is that if JG hangs around the 120-140 range on the money list, 90% of FPGPers will select him. If he turns the corner and gets himself into the 60-70 range, he may be a tough pick... however, Jeff is clearly in love with the guy, so he might take him no matter where he ends up.

You can "map" the responses... the JG pick came from SoCal.

Way to stick by your man MG!

The "Byrdman" sucks. He is great if you need a guy who is great at getting Par on a Par 4.

Par 3 Performance +7 30th
Par 4 Performance -5 3rd
Par 5 Performance -43 132nd

RE: The Poll, so far, more love for JG, then Tiger and Phil

JG, please tell me you aren't hitting that aweful looking Nike SasQuatch Tour 460. It's nasty looking.

I hear the new MacGreggor driver is pretty hot-faced.

What is the new big stick in your bag?

Jeff and I were supposed to be in the gallery at Medinah back in 99 when Tiger won the PGA there... his wife had other plans, however. She decided to give birth to their first son a few weeks early, making it impossible for Jeff to attend (I made it though... was there for 2nd and Final rounds... it is an awesome course).

Still... his wife won my "coolest new mom of the milleneum" award after the tourney, when she gave Jeff a kitchen pass to play golf with me on Monday.

Wow, Shades really has it in for my team. First JJ, now the Byrdman, I can't wait to see his post when Senden gets his overdue first victory! I anticipated such nastiness from any of the Psych Ph.D.'s but not from this quarter. Perhaps it's because neither their players nor themselves could 3 putt from 3 feet to snatch defeat from the jaws of victory.

Boca, Senden? Your excited about Senden? T23 after the first round. He's no JJ Henry!

bocabandit said...

No, Senden's not JJ - he is actually a more consistent ballstriker! Look up his stats, he's a GIR machine and excellent driver. I followed him for a few holes at The Honda and was quite impressed even though he struggled. I didn't say he'd win this week, only that he will eventually. Hopefully this year for my fortune. Similar to the lucky year when I selected Pensacola's own Joey Durant, sooner or later these consistent tee to green guys ultimately find that magical week when the wand becomes a friend for 4 rounds.

Way to stand by your man!

JS said...

Shhhhhhh. Robert Allenby, short of a WD, is having a nice round.

New Texan said...

maybe he'll WD for you right before the 4th round.

bocabandit said...

I'd like to think that Allenby doesn't have to pull that trick again after he did it in the Verizon. Obviously a dude's really hurt if he's in a position to pick up a nice check and decides he can't go one final 18.
