Well, well. Hee, Hee.

Jinx/Anti-Jinx.

This is starting to get complicated; probably reflective of the dueling swing thoughts swirling in JL’s mind. “Butch said this/old coach said that.” "Bring it back square/Bring it back inside." “I won the British/I blew the PGA (Twice!).” "Fish tonight/Steak."

Yesterday, I did send an e-mail to an FPGPer containing a derogatory ethnic comment about a particular player. He has proceeded to go from 5 under to 2 over and in grave danger of missing the cut since that message.

Am I proud of it? Hell No. Would I do it again? Hell Yes, it seems to work! :-)

Go Stank Go, you crazy Polack!

Finally, the little swami speaks - in his typical disingenious fashion.

The official A.L. Pennant odds are:

NYY - 2/1
BoSox - 7/2
Toronto - 12/1

So, Svengali, it is U who should be giving the odds. What's the matter, no faith in Mr. Steinbrenner's massive investment? No guts, no glory. But then, there has been no glory for the NYY in the 21st century, has there?

The over/under on your beloved Bronx Bumblers is 97. Care to dance with me on that one for $50?????

Your propensity to smell a bargain such as buying golf clubs out of a barrel is legendary, so I applaud you for jumping on Shades' Toronto offer.

Finally, let us not forget one important sporting history fact:

The Yankees have never won a post season series from the Florida Marlins. PERIOD!

Let's all sing in unison in honor of the NYY's opening game starter.

One-two-three...

"When the bat hits the ball
And it's over the wall
That's Pavano!"

bandit, that is one of your alltime great posts...

well, I think shades put his mouth in place to take the stupid toronto bet... as for me or anyone else giving odds to teh yanks, that is just ridiculous... I may be crazy, but I am not stupid. I'll take it even up though for fitty.

and yes, the special olympian line was good... hell, the entire comment was funny... it just wasn't rooted in any fact. Most good comedies are like that.

Side bet

I have Toronto to finish better than the New York Yankees at the end of the regular MLB 2007 season. Laying 50 to win 100 from Buzz. I'd wager on the Red Sox, but I have one rule that I have learned to follow. Never wager on your own team.

NT, not that in our 2007 sidebet spreadsheet if you would.

As for the "80 mil investment in Japan", you mean to tell me the Yankme's weren't involved in the bidding at all? Oh and $32 mil over 2 years for a 35 year old Andy Pettite, with a history of back problems, and was a .500 pitcher in the NL is money well spent? How much does Pavano make again? Oh yeah, he's the opening day starter. I guess he's the ace of the staff. Maybe he will record and inning of pitching in the big leagues this year. $17 mil and 100 innings pitched over the last 2 years. That's money well spent too. We have our share of crap contracts, but you won't win many, if any at all, arguments about the Red Sox spending money worse than the Yankees.

Hey, I want to be part of this parade. I'll take the Cardinals versus the Yanks even up. Screw the odds; I think the Bronx Bunnies are toast this year. Come on Robbo or Vic, put your money up.

honestly, i am not thrilled with DiceK. I even have a bet with shades on his ERA.. I took the "over" on 4.00 for the season. Call it hedging.

One of the things I hate about that signing is that it completely eliminates the Sox (admittedly already weak) moral authority on the spending issue. Now, "we" are just like "them" and I don't like it.

The only good thing about Pavano is his wife... or is it girlfriend? I don't know, and I don't care, but if that was waiting at home for me, I'd do my best to skip out of work too (while collecting millions... what a life). I hear Pavano is a pretty good card player also.

Note to buzz... shades is offering a "most games won" bet, not a "who wins the East" bet with regards to the Jays... if the Sox were to win the East, that would be a relevant issue, so make sure you dudes are on the same page.

JS said...

NT, you are correct. My wager with Buzz should be on most games won. Not who wins the east. It's who finishes better based on total wins of each team (Tor and NYY).

SteveV said...

We're on. Cards vs. Bronx Blowhards, total wins, for $50.

SteveV said...

Your are correct, whoever goes further wins! Let the games begin!!!

I love the sweet action!

Hey JG. Good tournament! Congrats on getting the game back on track and earning that nice check.

New Texan said...

You guys can bet baseball all you want, but i am not keeping separate spreadsheets for it!

Robbo... nice dice (pun) on the Dice K bet... after watching him this spring, I think i may have made a (rare) mistake.

bocabandit said...

Interesting that Joe Torre gave Pavano the keys to the Yankee car for Opening Day since he is a master of one car accidents.

Question if Pavano falters, do you say the game was like a "train wreck" or would it be more proper to exclaim "that performance was like hitting the rear of a dump truck head-on?"

Robbo, my source is www.bodog.com (more below on that)

Nota Bene: Da rodent did not address my question on whether he would wager on the Yankees with the over/under at 97. I would love to see a video of the slippery weasel's doctoral defense to watch a deception impressario at work.

Yes, Buzzy, I will take the Boys of Summer for $50 to go further than the Yankees led by Ace Pavano.

Regarding the Marlins, I happen to root for some hometown favorites - how about Boca's little (that comment is for Talonflier's benefit) Morgan Pressel! The Marlin comment was simply to state an objective historical fact since Robbo and Talonflier were waxing rhapsodic about the last century. I need to validate my training as a historian sometimes.

Speaking of academia and sources and research, Robbo's mastery of picking players in the FPGP who never show up is uncanny. Scott Hoch last year; Mary Kaye this year. As a Florida taxpayer who foots his salary, this propensity is disturbing. It begs the question: are all the minx's journal articles based on such shoddy research?
