Okay, Retief is hereby forgiven (sort of) for hitting an iron off the tee at the par 5 13th.

The ratbastard probably resorted to "magical thinking" to even have had a spot on the weekend. He was probably packing his bags when everyone suddenly pulled back to 2 under or lower (can you say "Wetterich?") late Friday afternoon giving The Goose and the rest of the 8 over horde a Saturday tee time.

I guess a long hitter such as yourself has the luxury to criticize the iron play on 13. I should think he's more pissed about the 10 footer he missed for birdie there.

Now that is the kind of shit giving I like to see...

The FPGP Open must happen. I can think of a dozen proposition bets right off the top of my head for this group...

You have to be a truthteller, New Tex, as immodest as it may seem.

If our anti Brett W. mojo was just a tad bit less effective, 3-4 under would have been the leader and The Goose would have had a realxing Easter with his family.

We were just too good for our own good!

Hey Bandit, that iron off the 13th is a decision that Ara Parseghian would agree with!

You won't see me hitting an iron off the tee on a par 5! No sireeee; maybe a driver to a par 3 or launching it from the whites but ....

sweet holy shit... i didn't even think of that bandit!

I think that The Goose decided to play "Whitey Ball" is a better analogy.

He missed a 10 ft. putt = the safety squeeze didn't work.

Leave Ara alone. I'm not a Fighting Irish fan but he made the only decision he could in the circumstance.

Don't mess with the Fighting Irish of Notre Dame!!! Those are fighting words.... :)

New Texan said...

You're an ND fan? Shit... I guess no one is perfect.

are you old enough to remember their last bowl win?

BostonBimma said...

Yes, very big ND fan...

And, yes, I do remember their last bowl win...but will show my age with it.... That was back in the good 'ol Lou Holtz glory days!! 1992-93 back-2-back Cotton Bowl victories over aTm. And, of course, who could forget my senior year in high school (1991)celebrating a smacking of da Bandit's Florida Gators in the Sugar Bowl!!

P.S. ND could care less about bowl victories...they bring in the revenue just by showing up!!

The fans and alum with $$ care otherwise Davies would still be coaching there.

BostonBimma said...

If it isn't a BCS bowl for a national championship, then it doesn't really matter. It's a national championship or millions of dollars for a significant bowl. Otherwise, they won't accept the invitation..

Bob Davies fired for being very inconsistent. After his 0-3 start in 2001 (first time ever in ND history) and finishing the season with 5 wins (for the second time in 3 years), most coaches would (and should) be fired!!

As for Ty Willingham....any ND fan could see that coming!!!

Long live Charlie Weis!!

BostonBimma said...

P.S. I think Davies stinks as an analyst and announcer too!!!!

New Texan said...

Yes... Weiss is truly amazing. I know of no other coach who's most memorable game is a loss. (to USC).

BostonBimma said...

Yeah, the infamous push by none other than "yes I took money" Reggie Bush!! That was a bullshit play!! ND wins that game!! Now, of course, they got beat to hell by Ohio State...but I think that was because of the USC debacle!! ... and not because of the piss-poor defense (that's my answer and I'm stickin' to it)!!!

New Texan said...

Denial... it's not just a river in Egypt.

SteveV said...

The only decision he could make!!! He ran out the clock and didn't TRY to win (aka scared to make a mistake, kinda like Goosen).

bocabandit said...

But Davies sure could mentor young coaches, e.g., Urban Meyer and his key assistants at Florida. Have to give the man credit for that!

Geez, bostonbimma is moving close to sounding like Mike Golic.

As for Vodoo's new obsession, "Mr Play short of the green and hope for a 1 putt" sure is playing verbal long ball with The Goose. His goose will be cooked if the FPGP outing is played on a track that is well-bunkered in the front. Stevie might even give new meaning to the infamous Chip Beck reference!

New Texan said...

To be clear, we are not playing a pitch and putt course at the FPGP Open right? I'll play from the back tees but I do request that the Stevie Vs and Excals at least play the course from 6500 yards.

Come on people... let's get this thing rolling... first step should be to pick a date... can we all agree on one long weekend? If we can commit to that, finding a place to play shouldn't be too hard. Let's make this happen.

And again, if we decide to play a two-man team format, I call JG! If he's too busy making millions... hmmmm... I'll take... Vic. I'd consider taking Shades, but he is a head case.

BostonBimma said...

I 'resemble' that remark Bandit!!!

Davies wasn't all bad...I guess I can give him some credit!!

And, for putting from in front of the green...I've been known to do that once or twice too... It worked for Justin Leonard...oh, wait, never mind...I just figured out why my golf game sucks!!!!!

bocabandit said...

I didn't sat Stevie V. was PUTTING. He's actually a pretty good chipper with an interesting form. It sometimes looks like he has 2 clubs in his hands.

JS said...

I'm only a head case because my bad swing and poor course management exposes it.
