Another FPGP golf option?

A possible option for the FPGP golf outing is to try to play in the annual Monkey Hill Classic in New Orleans. The event is run by my brother for charity. The course, which is 4 blocks from the Monkey Hill bar, is called Audubon Park and is an executive layout. So, golf would be secondary to the free drinks and wonderful music but I can promise that a good time would be had by all. Da Bandit and I are already committed to play; we have't missed one yet -- true dedication.

When is it?

Oh, it's scheduled for Friday November 2nd. Da Rodent even played last year.

Hmmmm... a possibility.

I just checked out the Myspace page...W-O-W...hopefully those waitresses are still working there??? Ohhhhhhh mama!!!

I could be possibly in for that SteveV. I am a friend of da Bandit and I might be in New Orleans for a conference Nov 4-8 (I suspect da Bandit will be at the same conference)!!

If so, it couldn't hurt to go down there a couple days early!!!

I will let you know ASAP.

I just got the okay from Johnny V. to save spaces for 4 possible players (in addition to me and da Bandit) in the Monkey Hill Classic, just in case ya'll can play.

The field fills up fast so just let me know if you can play and, if so, I'll get more specific information out as soon as I get it.

Come on Talonflier, get into the fray (of course, after getting the thumbs up from your wife).

If there's a conference that da Bandit can attend on the company dime in New Orleans he'll be there; it's a lock!!!

Do we all get to crash at Johnny V.'s place? I need to keep this as cheap as possible.

Would we all play on Saturday as well?

I was just with da Bandit at a conference in Chicago 2 weeks ago and will see him again week after next in San Jose, CA at another conference. Seeing him again in November may be too much for me to take in one year!!! :)

Yea, yea, I'll be there. Steve V is absolutely correct. Although I am no longer responsible for the books for that particular professional society, I've been on the travel roster for that meeting all year. It's nice to have the company pick up the travel fare for my appearance in the venerable Monkey Hill Classic.

We might even have a chance to play English Turn and/or the TPC on Saturday. I know last year the NOLA courses were still singing the post-Katrina blues about shortage of play. Voodoo would know more about that. Anyhow, there are a number of good tracks within an hour or so.

Bimma, I can vouch that The Monkey Hill surpasses that Irish Entertainment Establishment where we took so many meals in Chicago in its aesthetic appeal.

Bimma, I forgot. Like Kitty O'Shea's, The Monkey Hill even serves drinks.

Sure it's possible to play on Saturday (with an afternoon tee time --- some folks may be hung over).

This is one I'll have to run by the wife... me, New Orleans, a bunch of guys... yeah, I'll need a kitchen pass for sure.

da Bandit, there was drinks being served at Kitty O'Shea's??? Hmmmm, I must have missed that!! :)

I swear, if we were there one more night, I think I could have had that girl from Florida State, her mother, and her aunt in an unprecedented 4-some!!!!

I am not sure if I am doing that conference in Nov, Bandit. I will be going to England a couple weeks before that. I'll have to check with Big Brother to see if he is planning to do any conferences this year!!!

By fouresome, I imagine you mean a lovely round of golf.

BostonBimma said...

Of course...and the chance to play from the back tees! :)

Bimma, this is a family blog.

hahahahaha...

I've called it a lot of different names, but never that.

I am in for the Monkey Hill Classic in any case, and having the FPGP fockers there might make it a peak experience if we avoid pissy drunks. I can fully explain my SC duel with "Tiger 100" at that time....

if we are playing in a tourney, i'd rather not hear about the 201 collective "golf" shots that you guys took!

by the way, i remember the 17th at Linrick... tricky green. I'd guess you were way in the back and the pin was way in the front?

bocabandit said...

I guess Buzz's patented P-I-E method was out of sync that fateful day. Or Excal somehow forced an operational distortion.

Question: did you use it on all 4 of your putts on the 17th or just the last one? Or only the first three putts?

Boca, i dont use it on puts - i go by feel, which of course is not working. and yes, new tex is right in pointing out that the hole has a serious sloping green but...i was below the hole, ran it by a foot, and then absentmindedly tapped it by the hole and watched it run down the hill another 5 feet, costing the "match" (which was more of a shootout)
