Way to go Boo...

Boo Weekly just beat down Sergio Garcia at the WGC Match play. Scorecards here.

I for one am glad to see El Nino go down to Boo. It's been reported a good bit and you may remember that Boo kept an incorrect scorecard for Sergio last year, which Sergio subsequently signed. And of course, Sergio was DQed. There were reports that Sergio wanted "revenge". As ridiculous as this sounds (that is, "revenge" on a golf course), if it is true... REVENGE FOR WHAT? Back in the day, I played in my share of USGA Qualifiers and other Am tourneys, and surprise surprise... we were reponsible for signing a correct scorecard even though one of the other players in the group kept the score! If I ever signed a wrong card and got DQed, I don't think I'd blame the guy keeping score for me (afterall, adding 6s and 7s can be quite taxing).

Sergio is a such a little punk/bitch.

Oh, and with apologies to Excal... who the hell carries two putters???? Exactly what level of yips do you have to have to sacrifice a club in your bag (note to Excal: you can only carry 14 clubs) so that you can have TWO putters? This is the guy that was going to overtake Tiger? Don't hold your breath. It sickens me that this over-rated hack continues to get the cool endorsements, while more talented players just continue to grind it out week in and week out.

And... scene.

Golf almost became a contact sport this week at Riviera Country Club.

Sergio Garcia and Anthony Kim, both talented 20-something pros who have been trumpeted as potential challengers to Tiger Woods, nearly began their duel at the Northern Trust Open two days before today's opening round.

That's because one of the shots fired by Kim, 22, during Tuesday's practice rounds came close to striking Garcia, 28.

Garcia was lining up a putt on the 18th hole, Riviera's famed uphill par-4 finishing hole, when another golf ball dropped out of the sky a few feet from him.

Startled, Garcia spun around and spotted Kim in the 18th fairway, looking guilty.

"Sergio was really ticked off," recalled Kiki Garcia (no relation), head professional at General Old Golf Course in Riverside, who was in the greenside gallery when the incident occurred. "I (jokingly) told him I had his back. But Sergio said, 'I don't need your help. I'll break every club I have over his head.' "

Yikes!

After Garcia's group, which also included Retief Goosen and Camilo Villegas, finished putting out, Kim sent his caddie up to apologize to Garcia. Kim later caught up to Garcia signing autographs near the clubhouse and also apologized.

Turns out, Kim mistakenly had thought Garcia's group had cleared the green because the flagstick had been replaced. Garcia, however, had lingered to putt to another part of the green, as often happens in practice rounds.

Wednesday, I caught Garcia coming off the 18th green, after he had finished his pro-am round, to ask him about the previous day's incident.

"He (Kim) apologized," Garcia said. "I don't want to talk about it."

That was from a paper out in California.

and then, Anthony Kim's caddy, the apologizer, quit. That's how that story ends.

Interesting. I'll be available for the Wachovia and Heritage Classic for any caddie opportunities that open up.

Yeah, you and Lew. You'll have competition!

Does that mean that JG is skipping those two?

No way, those are two of our favorites. It means that Lew is currently looking for work. Technically furloughed.

So when does JG want to discuss me on the bag for the Carolina part of the tour?

That would be a perfect! Jeff loves giving swing advice throughout the course of a round!

and general social commentary. It would be great fun.
