UPDATE 2/24/08

Huge movements this week people. Huge. The problem is, most of them were backwards. There are a lot of picks out there who made their first (small) check this week at the WGC, and yikes,... putting those checks on the board killed some guys.

Also, I invoked the Gossett Rule this week. Enough guys have had a check, and there are 221 players on the money list now, so it was time. Only a few players were affected:

Darren Clarke
David Duval
Brad Faxon
Brett Quigley
Henrik Stenson.

Yes, Henrik Stenson. If you know "Ryan" you may want to tell him he has a problem with his Stenson pick (so does the Dart Throwing Monkey). Turns out, Stenson is not listed on the Money List, which means he got Gosetted. I'm thinking that Stenson is not a member of the PGA Tour this year, and as such, won't get listed on the Money List. Now, if Ryan were actually competitive and not hitting new lows in FPGP history, I'd suggest he trade Stenson as soon as possible. But frankly, it's not going to be worth the $20.

Swede Henrik Stenson, the world-class player who wowed America with his Accenture Match Play win in Tuscon last spring, has given up PGA Tour membership for 2008.

By concentrating on the European Tour and cherry-picking his events in the States, Stenson plans to reduce his playing schedule to just 25 tournaments this year, taking a leaf out of Tiger's book in placing quality of life, practice and play ahead of quantity.

Wow, it looks like Ryan may break all the FPGP futility records! Yes it's very early but to only have 1 player with a positive number is damn impressive.

P.S. Is Darren Clarke still alive?

great question... I can't believe anyone touched him this year.

Darren Clark is alive, but not planning on playing much in the US. He's trying to make the Ryder Cup team in Europe and has a new wife over there. I think he may still have US PGA status, but I wouldn't expect him to play more than the majors and a handful of other events.

Boo f-----g hoo! You and Robbo have an amazing streak of annually picking a player who rarely sticks a tee in the ground on PGA Tour turf. If such an unnatural ability paid off, we could call each of you an 'idiot savant'. But since this 'strategy' doesn't, the phrase doesn't apply (but others do). Maybe the facilities staff at your university needs to check out the departmental water coolers.
