UPDATE

THE YANKEES SUCK!!!!

Another one-and-done series for the Stanks... well done fellas. By the way, is there some kind of record for most consecutive seasons ending your season with a loss at home in the playoffs? I can't remember how it went down in 2005, but they did choke it up at home this year, last year, 2004 and 2003... I can't remember if the Angels closed them out in Anaheim...

Good times.

Look at the bright side... ARod finally got an RBI! The Yanks are still 6-0 against the Indians in the regular season! Hey, the Yankees almost caught the Red Sox! Yankees fans were able to see Roger Clemens end his storied and dignified career on their home field! This doesn't take anything away from those other 26 Championships you are so proud of!

On the downside, I fear that Rob's kids may grow up in a world where the Yankees never win a championship.

Robbo and Vic... as a sign of friendship and mutual respect, I cordially invite you to join the rest of us in Red Sox Nation. You'll like it... because, well... our team is still playing. Don't be haters! Jump on board the bandwagon, baby!

Oh and Vic... since you felt the need to bring out the "Death Star" earlier in the season... here's a little video tribute for the end of the Yanks' season. Enjoy!

Firstly, I would like to commend New Texan for his gracious invitation to the distraught Yankee fans, who are undoubtedly wondering how a team can spend more than a billion dollars thus far this century and yet not finish the year with a "W."

The Halos closed them out in Anaheim in 2005. Shame on you New Texan for forgetting that the Stanks were victimized by that "brutal trip" to the left coast that year.

Eating Chinese for lunch today. The Numbaa 19 special - Toast a la Wang.

Boca... thanks for reminding me. How could I forget that the Yankees had to take a "brutal" cross-country chartered flight while the Angels simply beamed themselves across country. Stupid me.

And yes, the doors to The Nation are open for all... the Sox may not win it all this year, despite being the obvious favorite, but that is OK... They've had a great season so far, they're in the league championship series, and baseball is fun again.

I agree New Tex. There is plenty of room here in Red Sox Nation for Yankees fans!! Unlike the Yankees fans that beat the crap out of the guy last week leaving a downtown bar just because he was a Red Sox fan!! Hmmm, 3 guys on 1, they lose 3 games to 1???....must be karma!!

But, nice to see the Red Sox were able to close out the series, even after the "Brutal trip" West!

I agree with you as well that even if the Sox don't win it all, they still made it further than New York!!! October baseball is fun again!!! GOOOOO SOX!!!

First, I would rather drag my nut sack across 10 miles of broken glass than root for the Red Sox, but thanks just the same. For honest analysis...here it is. Starting the "Wanger" on short rest after getting rocked in Game 1 was just stupid. It would have been much smarter to use Mussina, who had pitched well his last few starts after his two week sabbatical in September, than Wang (you could have used Wang if it looked like Mussina did not have his stuff working). For this I would also can Joe Torre who would rather hug than kick some ass when needed. They will need to scrap some vets and build on those young arms (Karstens, Hughes, Veras, Chamberlain, Ramirez). I think Posada is a keeper becuase of his maturity and ability to bring along some of these young arms. Obviously you keep Damon, Jeter, Cano, Cabrera...I would let A-Rod, Giambi, Abreu find jobs elsewhere and replace with a some FA upgrades in right field and first base and a young gun at third; put Matsui as DH/LF; keep Wang, Pettite, Hughes, Karsten, FA upgrade for starters, Chamberlain and Veras as set-up, Ramirez and Rivera as closers. The key is to find a mix of quality (no issue) 30 year olds and some fresh blood younsters (particualrly arms) to get the energy up. ALl in all under Torre they seem a littel too mellow after that spurt of WS trips early on. I do think if they would have won the bug game and returned to the Brox 1-1, they would have won it...but dems the breaks. Sox are different team with ManRam--Good Luck beaners!

I agree with Wang analysis... I was giddy when I saw he was slated to start.

As for the rest of it, it is all just smoke and mirrors. The fact remains that for the last 3 years the Yankees have fielded superior talent than the teams that have beaten them... the difference is, the Yankees are unable to hit in clutch spots. Its as if the "sluggers" on the Yankees see every pitch as an opportunity to swing for the fences... whereas the Indians played contact baseball when they were down in the count or with 2 outs. I don't know if that is coaching or ego, but the 4 games against Cleveland was a showcase the biggest contrast in situational hitting I've seen in a long time.

Either way, I couldn't handle another ALCS with the MFY; I am quite sure my marriage wouldn't have made it, regardless of the outcome.

You are right about the sox and manram... and oritiz. For the first time all year, they both look healthy. We'll see...

And you have to admit... the Vadar video was a pretty good zinger!

Talon, a simple "no thank you" would have sufficed...but the graphic analogy sums it up pretty well too!!

I also agree with your analysis of the final moments of Yankee life in 2007. The Tribe already knew they could handle Wang-er...so, having a seasoned vet like Mussina coming from the pen instead of starting was a huge mistake IMO!!!

The Yanks should go full throttle now with the young guns...seems like that was part of their game-plan this year anyway. And, if you are not going to win Championships ... you might as well re-build!! Unload some $$$$ payroll and develop the youngsters. That is, if there is any left in their farm system!!

Can someone please check in on Rob and make sure he is OK?

Always room for another fan in RSN (Red Sox Nation) for those not in the know. We can simply rearrange some of the chairs on the new RSN Love Boat.

I have come to loathe any team that refers to themselves as "nation" like Buckeye Nation or Raider Nation, it is so presumptuous/pretentious to assume a national following of any greater proportion than any other decent team. Please avoid becoming a Red Sox Nation...great city, rabid sports fans, but outside of the land of cranberries who really gives a s^%&? Almost as bas as billing that crack smoking team in Texas as "America's Team.

the combo of dropping into 4th in the FPGP and watching the Stanks stink it up has really put Talon's panties into a wad...

Talon... perhaps you missed the USA Today cover article on Red Sox Nation? It was a couple months ago... turns out the Sox are the most popular team in the country... even more popular than the One and Done's from da bronx.

Don't fight change...

I heard last night that Robbo is counting flowers on the wall, playing solitaire till dawn with a deck of 51 and smoking cigarettes and watching Captain Kangaroo....
as his way of coping with grief.

Bandit, is that what Spank-me fans do between October and March (spring training)?? Unfortunately for them, it seems that some of their players got a pretty good head start on 'em!!!

GOOOO SOOOOOOOOXXXXXXXX!!!!!!!!

Really, when did USA Today become a peer reviewed journal? Of course it is understood that the limited cognitive ability of Red Sox fan is easily entranced by the pretty pictures and and big cartoon language of USA Today. I challenge the data, I hypothesize there are more Yankee fans in NY and Florida than the entire national fan base of the vaunted Red Sux Nation. It is so sad that even with a good team and a shot at the WS, Red Sox fan is more invested in jamming up the Yankees, it really is a perverted fixation vested in a deep jealousy of Yankee greatness. I would recommend some therapy and about 24 more World titles.

I apologize for not responding right away... I actually had a baseball game to watch. Lately, the idea of "2nd week of October baseball" is difficult for the MENSA members, er uh, Yankee fans to understand but forgive me nonetheless.

Anyway,...

Here's the article if you'd like to read it.

http://www.usatoday.com/sports/baseball/al/redsox/2007-08-22-Roadattendance_N.htm

As for jealousy? Hell no... this is simply "get back" for decades of being tormented by Yankee fans. However, if you don't want to talk baseball, that's fine. Let's talk NFL football!

Here is Robbo, thanks for your "concern" boys...just finished laughing at the invite to jump on a bandwagon with a bunch of hayseeds that would still be quivering near their TVs if mariano hadn't blown game 4 in '04, giving them a second life and a ray of confidence.

I agree with the nutsack comment from Vic, but need to go further: similar to new hamshire's motto "live free or die", i could never really consider rooting for the sux, much less being an actual FAN, without also being acutely suicidal.

like i said before, yanks went as far as they probably should have this year, making the playoffs took some kind of run...and they helped me to:
fitty from the boca pole
fitty from shades and
fitty from vodo

GO TRIBE

I must admit, Robbo's response was far better than Vic's. One cannot argue with the value of "bets won." And it is nice to see at least one Yankee fan who doesn't knee-jerk with the "26 championships" nonsense, which is clearly irrelevant to the discussion at hand (i.e., how much the Yankees currently suck). Well done Robbo.

I do find it interesting that there has been something of an attack on the intellectual capacities of Red Sox fans... considering there are more colleges/universities within a 5 mile radius of Fenway Park than you'd find in all of NYC... well, at least good schools. Yes, while it is undoubted that NYC is the "Seat of Douchebaggery" one must also conceded that Boston is seat of all things intellectual.

buzz said...

looking at the picture posted of the exploited child from boston, it is no wonder the intellect of those from "massive-two-shits" is questioned.

tex, dont you even think beantown as the "seat of all things intellectual" is a bit over the top?! guess you aint been to the bars and sections of town i've been...for a small metropolis, it has a lot of colleges, but if you look statewide ya might find ny has just as many colleges of varying types and quality (e.g., 2 Ivy schools to...1 for mass).

On a side note actually, it is little known that the Boca Pole smashed the Polish Barrier at Cornell in the 1960s - he was one of the first pollacks to be admitted to that school, his name being enshrined in a downtown Ithaca pizza parlor.

Robbo...."they went about as far as they should have"??? I certainly hope that Brian Cashman has a MUCH better explanation for the Boss this week at their meeting in Tampa!!! Otherwise, he may find himself at the unemployment line with Joe Torre!!!

As for '04' and Rivera BLOWing the game, good teams capitalize on mistakes to win games, which is what the Sox did. What is your excuse for the final 3 games of that series??

As for Tex and the USA Today article, I think it is about right! However, further to that, I hypothesize that there are much more Anti-Yankee fans than there is Anti-Sox fans, by far!! But, then again, I'm just a Boston dummy that is easily amused & distracted by pretty pictures!!!!

GOOOOOOOO SOX!!!!!!!!!!
