A big old FPGP congratulations to JG this week... with his Top 10 finish in Vegas, the big guy is over the $1 million mark for the first time in his career. He made more than a million combined between the Nationwide and PGA Tour back in 05, but this is the first time he's cracked a cool million on the PGA Tour alone. Well done JG!

Yes, a big CONGRATS to JG on a very impressive year as it winds down...

I can't help but feel somewhat responsible for his turnaround. Up to the Wachovia, he only made approx $100K. Then, I pulled my trade for JG and added him to my FPGP roster. Since then, he has pocketed over $936K and only missed 4 cuts!!! A very impressive run indeed!!

But, meeting both JG and MG at the Deutsche Bank tourney here in Boston and MG giving me tix to the tourney and then later to the Red Sox/Orioles game to watch Clay Buchholz' no-no...that is payment enough!!

Best of luck for the next few weeks JG and I hope you and MG enjoy the off-season!!

I hate to burst your bubble Bimma, but the real turnaround happened after JG played with me at TPC Craig Ranch. Truth be told... I let the big guy take me down. He needed a confidence boost, and I was happy to take one for the team. I hit enough shots to make him realize I was an incredible golfer, but also enough "controlled duck hooks" to let him slip through and go on to victory. As you know, I had the ol boy 1 down thru 7 holes... what you don't know is that I did the noble thing and let him off the hook. Since then, the man has been en fuego, and I'd like to start taking some credit now... thanks.

JUST KIDDING JG!

sorry to ruin this lovefest, but wanted to let you know that the TRIBE just took the vaunted beanies down again...as if the "Nation" wasn't watching and crying already!

lets see if the big favs to win the series can come back this time...

Well, it is nice to see a Spank-me fan still interested in watching baseball still being played with such enthusiasm about the Sox!! The Sox down 3 games should look familiar to you Buzz....remember 2004???? I think we know how that turned out!!! No crying yet...we go back to Beckett tomorrow night. Just need to get it back to Beantown and get the bats going again!!

GOOOOOOO SOX!!!!!

I've never understood the psychology of "give your friends shit even though their team is still playing and your team is not"... All you do is ask for a beating, which I am willing to provide... for example, yes... the Sox may (probably) lose to the Tribe... still, they had a better season (in terms of wins/losses, a division championship, and getting further in the playoffs) than the yankees. Further, they've had a better season this year than ANY yankee team the last 3 years, considering we actually got out of the first round (and I know Robbo likes "historical data" so I am focusing on the relevant/recent years). The "best" yankee season before that was 2004, when the Yanks did get out of the first round... and of course suffered the most humiliating defeat in sports history... I won't say they choked though. That was just a course correction for the universe.

So yeah, we're a little nervous in Beantown-Sportsworld, but we have a lot going for us also... most importantly, we're still playing... at least for one more night. If they can get it back to Fenway, anything can happen... although I am scared to death of the thought of a DiceK game 7 outing...

Oh, and of course any wounds that are caused by a Sox loss in the ALCS will be eased by our beloved Patriots... that's the great thing about Boston sports right now... we're a multi-tool threat baby! Sox! Pats! Celts! (rumor has it they don't play NHL hockey in boston anymore). BC Football! All the New Yorkers have is an over-rated baseball team which is on the verge of implosion, the G'ints on a mini-roll, the Knicks' litigation, and I guess their NHL team is OK. But hockey has been replaced by Mixed Martial Arts as the 4th most important sport in the U.S. Sorry Joel.

and,... scene...

hey bimmatex, look, let's cut to the core: red sox players and fans have always defined themselves in relation to the yankees - nothing has changed. reminds me of Sartre who said:

Existence precedes essence….man first of all exists, encounters himself, surges up in the world - and defines himself afterwards. If man …is not definable, it is to begin with he is nothing. He will not be anything until later, and then he will be what he makes of himself.

TAKE HOME MESSSAGE: the sox are nothing without the antagonism of the yankees...the yankees have defined themselves historically, and now, without much need for the sox.

Interesting... I will respond with one of my favorite quotes... I believe it is from Kant.

"Blow me."

BostonBimma said...

Buzz, I believe that Yankee and Sox fans and players both measure themselves against each other every year. That is part of what makes the rivalry every year exciting.

As far as your Sarte quote, that is well beyond my years....so I will provide you with one of my favorite quotes of more recent memory...I believe from a little-known local rock bandAerosmith...

"Suck on my big 10 inch"!!

GOOOOOOO SOX!!!!!!!!

P.S. All in good fun!!

And I believe it was that immortal Canadian philosopher, Beaver Bob Biffles, who wrote..."where's the beer?"

New Texan said...

Indeed...

Hey Excal, if the Cocks end up in the Cotton Bowl this year... PARTY AT MY HOUSE! That goes for you also Robbo... I'm willing to bury the Sox/Stank hatchet to help fill Dallas with Gamecocks.

BostonBimma said...

What did you Stankee fans do now...Cleveland is having Beckett's ex-girlfriend singing the national anthem tonight??!!!

That won't stop 'em......because the whole Sox team has Manny's "who cares" attitude!!! Gotta love it.....

GOOO SOX!!!!!!

Let's go Red Sox

Clap

I heard about the tornado that touched down in Pensacola today. While I hope nobody got hurt and damage is minimal, I must say Robbo, that's what happens when you bad-mouth the boys from Boston!!

HE must be a card-carrying member of Red Sox Nation!!! :>

Here we go Red Sox....here we go!!!

Just got back into town and am amazed at the level of tackiness displayed by Buzz to disrupt the building up of good wishes for JG to make a low blow on a completely unrelated matter. He doesn't have a horse in the race (or a mouse in the maze, if you will)yet Da Rodent feels compelled to take a gratuitous shot at Sox fans.

Evidently, Robbo has finally read Sartre; however, I suspect that the quote derives from his "Thought of the Day Calendar" for October 17. To respond to his tortured theory, I will simply rely on the sweet succinctness of Nietzsche's "F--k you, you f-----g f--k and crawl back into your little hole."

Hopefully I can continue to cling to second place in the FPGP as I have heard from an unimpeachable source that Robbo's entry fee will be earmarked for my payoff. If only the cheap sonofabitch had the nads to spend an Andy Jackson on a trade!

welcome back bandit! please review posts from the last couple weeks - my best piece ever, i think, was connecting cornell, you, and your ethnic background.

and all the sexual vitriol from the beantown boys! shit, KANT blow either of ya, sorry, not into it...

GO TRIBE

New Texan said...

Buzz... if the Japanese Wonder pitches what he is allegedly worth tonite, you'll need to dust off a new phrase. "Go Rockies."

For the record, I am probably going to be waxing in and out of states of catatonia watching Dice K pitch tonite, so I am not in a chest thumping kind of mood.

Go Sox!
Go JG!
GFY Robbo! :-)

I hearts Pedroia... way to hit a jack. Seriously, you gotta love the Sox.

AND AS I'M TYPING THIS, NOW I LOVE YOUKILIS!! (he just hit that homer in the bottom of the 8th)

Cleveland needs a new third base coach.

We're in Scottsdale tonight watching this. It's our swan song.. the end of a great year for JG. Now, we're on our way home to enjoy the offseason.

New Texan said...

I hearts Pedroia also... you just want to grab him and give him a noogie!

What a game... I watched with former FPGP cellar dwellar "Krust"... big fun.

Robbo is probably online right now ordering Rockies' paraphanalia...

22mg03 said...

JG checking in... Bimma, I think I am coming to Beantown for Game 1! I am getting tickets from my boys at Fenway for the game. I am taking my coach (maybe), who is also a huge Sox fan. Can't wait!!!

GO SOX!!!!

New Texan said...

You really are having a great year JG!!

And by the way... thanks guys! I appreciate it.

And a special thanks to Tex... Thanks for letting me win! You are a real sweetheart...

Freakin' liar!

haha

New Texan said...

haha! no shit.

In all honesty, and I tell everyone about this, I felt like you were toying with me... not in a bad way, but more like "I could probably put a 64 up right now, but I'll just have some fun and keep this thing interesting."

You're a good egg Noonan.

buzz said...

JG, that is awesome!! It must be nice to have friends in high places. I was lucky & got to see Game 1 of the 2004 World Series at Fenway and the place was electric! If there is any way you can get there, I'd say do it!!

We are all Sox fans Buzz...you are on your own my friend!!!

GOOOO SOOOOOXXXXXXX!!!

22mg03 said...

So, JG flew to Boston this morning for game 1 and took his best friend Mike with him. Mike has never been to Fenway, what a way to be introduced to it.

They just landed at Logan and I'm sure many beers will ensue.

I'm staying in LA (not that I was invited!), but we almost lost our house to the Magic Fire here in SoCal the other day. Some brainiacs who were doing road construction thought it would be a good idea to weld near brush and in 50 mph winds. A spark caught some bushes and whipped up the hill towards our house. A super scooper dropped retardant on our place and the winds switched, so we were spared, as was the golf hole that borders our house. Although, I kind of hate that hole, so there would have been no love lost if it had burned. :)

New Texan said...

Yikes... glad you and your house are OK.

There are plenty of golf holes I'd like to see burned to the ground...............

BostonBimma said...

Glad to hear that you guys were spared MG and that you & the house are safe.

If I had a ticket MG, I would have invited you!! :) What a first time experience at Fenway that must have been had last night!! I went to game 1 in 2004 and it was incredible. I am sure they had a great time (with a 'few' beers thrown in, I'm sure!!).

If only the Red Sox would play the Rangers during the Nelson Tourney. Glad to hear that everyone but buzz had a good time with the Sox winning it all AGAIN.

MG, no fires in North or South Carolina. But then again, parts of NC is as dry as a bone.
