Yankee Trash Talk Here

Just in case Robbo didn't know how to start a post, I figured I'd give him (and vic) some space to comment on the greatness of the Yankees. Sure, they're a game worse in the standings than when we started this fun, but they did sweep the Sox... so have at it boys.

You beat me to it New Tex. I just left a post in the other thread...so I will post it again here....

Yes, its final..the Yanks SWEEP the Sox. I can admit it, the Sox stunk it up the past 3 days. Although, not having Manny in the lineup didn't help any!! But, no excuses. Fortunately, we still enjoy a 5 game lead. No worries!!!

Now that I am playing catch-up after a temporary absence from the blog, here's my favorite comment from Robbo:

"and yes bimma, i would spot you 5 games if yanks had the lead , or give you odds as i did shades, to make it fair."

Ha, Ha, Ha!!! I was wondering why I haven't been able to get a hold of Stevie V. until his wife told me all he does recently is roll on the floor in convulsive laughter. I now know the reason. The only way Da Rodent would 'spot you 5 games' bimma is if he was bound in a chair, soaked in water, and being tortured by electrical prodding. Even there, he would probably start negotiating with his captors about giving up body parts instead of spotting someone 5 games - "One finger and we call it a deal; How about one toe on each foot; If I throw in an ear perhaps...."

New Tex is right on in his analysis of Yankee fans. Coincidentally (?) I was having the same type of dialogue with a friend from high school while this was transpiring on the blog. He threw down the gauntlet so to speak, I picked it up, and then his next statement after flat-out stating that the Yankmees will win the division was "What odds will you give me?" Hell, I prefer the Angels or Tigers to the Sox and the last thing on my mind was to seek out a Sox/Yankee bet. The chest pounding comes my way, then the fan who sings along with Kate Smith every night slinks away without a sound into the CT night.

Finally, El Buzzo's geographical determination of fandom is a bit flawed. I grew up 60 minutes away from NYC and have despised the
f---s my entire life. I still shake involuntarily when I see some slob sporting a Stanks hat or jersey down here. My theory is that the attire is a tipoff that "drugs are available here," especially if he's smoking Newports. When a co-worker friend wears his Jeter jersey to the office on casual Friday, I boo him.
It's just the natural thing for a man in mid-fifties to do!

Selah.

bandit, I think I speak for all upright walking folks with normally functioning frontal cortexes when I say... welcome back.

Now your slamming us on comments we might make? What are ya'll friggin psychic or psychotic. I'll say again, no way Yankees catch the Sox, mathematically it would take a collapse of...well..er..um..Red Sox proportions. No way to make up for the shitty play earky in the year. Just trying to stay ahead of the Mariners and then it is back to square one, even up (other than home field disadvantage which doesn't seem to matter to either the Sox or Yankees players). Sox will finish ahead of the Yankees in the division for the first time since 1995, take it to the bank. Now, if the Yanks can stabilize and secure the wild card, the look out you hyperventilating, paranoid, superstitious beaners!

Love the quotes...

"Oh poor delusional rob... this series only matters if the yanks sweep it. taking 2/3 will bring them no glory... and of course, losing the series pretty much ends the season for them, at least in terms of the AL East. Hell, even if they do sweep, they are 5 back.
And I'd love to see the yankees in a short series! in case you haven't noticed, they are not very good. I'd rather play them than the Angels or the Mariners, that's for sure."
New Tex

Sweep me baby, sweep me and take it all down.

Nice try los mindless boys, a good ploy - slapping down your own team first to save some face...preempting the onslaught that was to come. TAKE OUT YOUR OLD STURBRIDGE VILLAGE MADE BROOMS LADIES AND GENTLEMEN- ITS GREAT ANYTIME THE YANKS STOMP THE SOX!!!

Unlike vic, i think it is possible for yanks to catch them; plenty of time left.

and hey bridgeport bocaboy (or is it "fairfeld"?), i gotta say that your post was way too long for me to stay interested in the rant, so i cant rack ya...go dodgers!

Although Vic is the exception to what I am beginning to think is a general rule, Rob's latest admission is giving my new theory more credence: namely, that a common trait of Yankee fans is that they are educated beyond their limitations.

And another Simmons' gem... even a Stankee fan can find some humor in these observations.
