Majors Challenge Part IV: The Voodoo Legend

OK, let's not work the brinksmanship angle on this one, and you know who you are (da Rodent). I need your team of six sans el Tigre and your projection for the winning score relative to par. You have until Wed at 2359 hrs.

as i watched number 756, i cant wait for A-rod to break the record in 6-7 years...and mike vasik is the answer to that damn trivia question.

btw, PGA winning score -3

Yeah Rob... what do I (I won'd defend Philp's picks) know about picking PGA players in these pools? I should have consulted you first, given your great success this year! Afterall, you are averaging nearly 1.2 points per player in the FPGP this year!

As for Bonds... the depth of my disgust can be summed up by saying... he's the only person who could make me pull for A-Rod. A-Rod may be a dumb ass, choke, etc... but at least he's clean. As far as we know.

Classy wife too.

Da Rodent's team looks like the golfing version of the Kansas City Royals this week.

Indeed... actually, his performance in this side bet pool is well correlated with his FPGP performance this year. Pretty amazing feat really, especially in light of the so-called "blind squirrel" (rodent?) phenomenon.

let me remind ye toads that I WON the first round (Masters) of our little side pool, and if Mich gets off the mental booze i'll win again.

as for Arod, it truly shows bias if you label him a choke; he is, and will be, one of the greatest players to ever play by the numbers; not as clutch as Jeter and others, but he may be just hitting his stride through his mid-30s. I was never an Arod or Bonds fan, but its hard to deny their talents (e.g., bonds had 3 or 4 MVPs before he started using his own line of testosterone products).

and bandit, doubtful that you'll see this as you likely are in bed already, but if you do how bout 50 straight up: my team vs. yours?

KC royals! c'mon, how bout them Dodgers slip slidin away!

post time is 8:00 a.m. et

Bias? In a sports fan? Is that your official diagnosis doctor? That sports psych stuff is really paying off!

A simple comparison of ARod's stats from regular season to post season demonstrates that he is not the player in October that he is in May. Now, he might turn out to be a Reggie Jackson... but he hasn't yet. And if he does, it probably will be with Anaheim...

That said, he is the MVP this year... he's legitimately the most scary guy with a bat in his hand, and if he didn't get off to the hot start he did, the Yanks would be 12 games out today.

yes tex, arod has been valuable this year - a balanced comment from a fan, thats what i expect from people who know the game. the study of fandom and fan behavior, btw, falls more in the area of sport sociology...

Does that field exist? Where was this shit when I was in undergrad??? I need a career change!

RE: ARod... when he was killing the ball in april/may and the team was still struggling... I had a feeling it could come back and haunt the Sox. Without him, they were going to be 20 games back. The foolish Yankee fans who said "oh, it's just May..." (refering to the lead) seem to forget that a May game counts as much in the standings as a Sept. game... and he bailed them out of 4 or 5 that I can remember. If the Stanks make hte playoffs and he is not the MVP and worshipped in the Bronx... no justice.

Big series for the Stanks this weekend... going to find out if they are any good.
